Who are the Mennonites
The Laurel Street congregation is a part of Atlantic Coast Conference, Mennonite Church USA, and Mennonite World Conference. Our beginnings go back to the 16th century. We’ve taken our name from Menno Simons, one of the early prominent 16th century leaders; nevertheless we are first followers of Jesus
Christ in daily life -- a central value of our faith. Other central values include an emphasis on community, peacemaking and believers’ baptism. True evengelical faith
is of such a naturethat it cannot lie dormant, but manifests itself in all righteousness and works of love... It seeks and serves and fears God, clothes the naked, feeds the hungry, comforts the sorrowful, shelters the destitute, aids and consoles the sad, returns good for evil, serves those that harm it, prays for those that persecute it, teaches, admonishes, and reproves with the Word of the Lord, seeks that which is wounded, heals that which is diseased and saves that which is sound. It has become all things toall people. Menno Simons |
